Event Time and Date

Thursday, March 2 2017, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM

Are you interested in learning more about how to do your own taxes as a student in Canada?

This beginners workshop is aimed to educate and assist students in filing their Canadian tax returns. Learn about how your status as a full-time student may make you eligible for several tax deductions that may provide you a refund.

This presentation will be hosted by Professor Jonathan Farrar from the Ted Rogers School of Management. He joined the School of Accounting and Finance in 2011 after earning my PhD in business administration from York University.  He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), and in his former life, he worked at several accounting firms, where he practiced Canadian and US income tax.  He conducts experimental tax research that examines how psychological factors, such as fairness and guilt, influence taxpayer decision-making, such as whistleblowing and tax compliance.

Come prepared to take notes and enjoy free food!

Note: This is not a tax clinic so we will not be filing taxes during this event.
