Event Time and Date

Tuesday, September 26 2017, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
180 Days until this Event

Volunteers needed to work with adult learners to develop stronger reading, writing, comprehension, computer, and/or math skills to pursue their goals of employment, secondary and post-secondary education opportunities, and greater independence.

Tutors also support learners in the development of learning strategies and short term and long term goals. We ask that tutors be 18 years of age and older, are fluent in English and are able to spend 2 hours per week with their learner for a period of 6 months.

This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in gaining experience and/or exploring in the fields of education, adult literacy, social work, community services, and mental health.

We provide an initial 15 hour general tutor training program before volunteers start working with learners and ongoing skills development workshops in the areas of mental health, disabilities, power and privilege, and indigenous learning pedagogies.
