66 Days until this Event

Art City in St. James Town is a not-for-profit organization that provides after-school and weekend multidisciplinary art programs, free of charge, to the children and youth who reside in this community. Located in a storefront on Sherbourne street, Art City is fully integrated into one of Canada’s most densely populated and culturally diverse neighbourhoods, and is a safe and non-discriminatory environment that encourages passion for artistic expression, a connection to the community, and a difference in their future.

Art City is currently looking for a volunteer to instruct a weekly Drawing and Painting class to up to 20 young artists (aged 9-13) in the afterschool hours of 4-6pm until June 28th. The Volunteer Drawing Instructor would develop and deliver this programming, incorporating the young artists’ interests and working with them to develop their skills. The successful candidate would be an experienced artist with knowledge of the principles of design, as well as some Painting and Drawing techniques. They will be capable of working effectively with the support of two staff members and volunteers.

Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to: artcitytoronto@gmail.com at their earliest convenience. Only successful applicants will be contacted.

Successful applicants over the age of 18 will be required to complete a Police Reference Check, paid for by Art City.

***VolunteerLink is Ryerson's platform aimed at connecting students to volunteer opportunities in the community. As such, we are the bridge that connects students with the volunteer organizations. All organization contact information will be provided within the volunteer opportunity posting and it is then the student's responsibility to contact the volunteer organizations directly/follow their volunteer processes in order to officially RSVP to the opportunity, or in order to seek more information.
