Privacy Statement Ryerson Connect RU Program

Collection of Personal Information

In accordance with Section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, RSO 1990, c.F.31 (“FIPPA”), the information you enter into the Connect RU Program application is collected under the

authority of the Ryerson University Act, 1977, for the purpose of collecting information to assist with the provision of student programs and services at Ryerson University (“Ryerson”) for the benefit of Ryerson’s students and other consistent purposes. All information, other than your Ryerson e-mail address and name, is gathered solely on an opt-in basis.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

This information will be used by Student Life Programs for administrative and statistical purposes, including assisting Ryerson organizations with service provision and event planning and to support student involvement in these same Ryerson organizations.

Access, Data Storage, and Data Destruction

A universal verifier (matrix ID) is used to grant student access to the system and this is stored on Ryerson’s servers. Campus Labs (the company that provides the Connect RU Program's services) stores your name, email address, additional information you have added to your profile, your selection of preferences, and any ideas and comments you choose to share, on Canadian servers. It will not be shared in any other way or sold to third parties by Campus Labs. Organizations and events to whom you give consent may send you relevant e-mail updates through the Connect RU Program. These notifications are optional and you can manage your email settings by visiting the privacy settings in your profile. While you are registered at Ryerson, your account will be automatically deactivated if there is no activity after two years. It can be re-opened upon request. All accounts are closed and deleted either five years after graduation or five years of inactivity (two years dormant, then three years of additional retention). Graduates of Ryerson will be able to continue to access their Connect RU Program account during the five years after graduation. All personal information that is collected will be used, stored, and destroyed in accordance with Ryerson’s Information Protection and Access Policy.

If you have questions about the collection, use, and disclosure of this information by Ryerson please contact the Leadership Development Facilitator, Kait Taylor-Asquini at 416-979-5000 x 2128 or
